Culture & Candlight returns to Gallagher’s
After a successful first run of our new series of cultural events at Gallagher’s, the team have put their heads together to create another event comprising the best of fine dining and local culture.
This time we will be joined by writer, playwright, performance poet and director at the Limerick Writer’s Centre, Fiona Clark Echlin. Inspired by the themes surrounding Gallagher’s Restaurant, such as gastronomy, the seas and local history, Fiona will present an evening of storytelling and poetry, working with both the classics and her own writings.
The gourmet tasting menu will feature 6 courses created especially by Head Chef Kieran Murphy working with the best of local fish, meat and produce; each savoury course will be complemented by a glass of wine, selected by our Guest Sommelier Peter McCabe. The evening will begin with a drinks reception in our bar as local pianist Catherine Clohessy treats our guests to a piano recital. The aim is to create a holistic dining experience that leaves guests fed in both body and spirit.

ABOUT FIONA CLARK ECHLIN: Fiona is an award winning poet, playwright and storyteller. She sits on the voluntary Board of Directors at The Limerick Writers’ Centre based
in Limerick City, which is described as a ‘place to inspire and be inspired’, and whose mission is to be a strong voice for contemporary literature, arts and culture based on democracy of opportunity, the community and a participatory co-operative culture – all of which are reflected in Fiona’s own writing and performances.
Fiona has lived and worked in Ireland, the USA, the UK and Turkey, teaching Creative Writing and Public Speaking to diverse groups. Best known as a performance poet and storyteller, her distinctive voice will be familiar to many from her stage appearances and on radio. Fiona’s work is often coloured by her background which has strong
associations with the theatre and the sea. Her collection of short stories is being published in the Spring and she is currently working on a novel. Fiona
lives in Killaloe, Co Clare
