Stay and Spend Incentive
This Spring thousands of businesses closed across the country, and even more holidays abroad were cancelled. The impact has already been felt within the Irish tourism industry , and with so much still unsure of, the government are now encouraging Irish residents to holiday in at home this Autumn with a new incentive – Stay and Spend.
So what does this mean for you? To be precise, any tax paying Irish resident can receive a tax credit of 20% on accomodation, food and non-alcoloholic drinks, up to a total of €125 for a single person or €250 for a couple.
So that means that weekend away for €100 can now cost you just €80, or a family trip that sets you back €625 will cost you €500.
The business will have to be Failte Ireland registered (we are!) and applications will most likely occur via a dedicated app, but we’re still waiting on confirmation of that. Watch this space!
So the bottom line is: from the 1st October, SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS.
